If you're running, crewing, or just cheering from the sidelines, the Sewanee Slammer is worth building a weekend around. This 20-mile loop race circles Sewanee's Perimeter Trail at the University of the South on Saturday, October 17, 2026, and Sasquatch Farm is close enough to make it a full weekend on the mountain instead of a same-day drive.
What is the Sewanee Slammer?
Organized by Nashville Running Company, the Sewanee Slammer is a 20-mile loop along Sewanee's Perimeter Trail, with three aid stations along the way at roughly miles 5, 10, and 14. The course runs past bluffs, overlooks, and the same kind of Cumberland Plateau scenery we've got right here at the farm — upland forest, lakes, and long views off the edge of the mountain. It starts and finishes at the Mountain Goat Visitor Center in Sewanee Village.
How far is Sasquatch Farm from the race?
About 30 minutes, roughly 26 miles from South Pittsburg to Sewanee. Close enough for an early race-morning drive, or to shuttle a runner's crew back and forth to aid stations without losing the whole day:
- Sewanee / Mountain Goat Visitor Center — about 30 minutes (26 miles)
- Monteagle — about 20–25 minutes, on the way
- Downtown South Pittsburg — about 10 minutes from the farm
- Foster Falls, South Cumberland State Park — about 20 minutes, good for a cool-down hike the next day
Address for your GPS: 2985 Browns Trace Rd, South Pittsburg, TN 37380. Get directions or call (423) 919-9852.
Why basecamp at Sasquatch Farm for race weekend
A 20-mile trail race means an early start, a long day, and a body that wants a real bed or a quiet campsite that night — not a hotel hallway. Here's what makes the farm a good staging point:
- Full hookup RV sites with room for big rigs and crew vehicles, plus three Nordic cabins if you'd rather not tow
- Fiber Wi-Fi to track race splits or just check in with family back home
- Piggy's Store on site for pre-race snacks, electrolyte drinks, and anything a runner forgot to pack
- Our own swimming lake for a cold-water leg soak the evening after the race
- A quiet mountain-top campfire instead of packing up right after the finish line
See current RV availability on our RV sites & camping page or cabin photos on the Cabins & Spa page.
Make it a whole weekend
Packet pickup for the Slammer is the Friday before the race, so plan on two nights: arrive Friday, pick up your packet, settle into camp, and get an early night before the Saturday start. Sunday, let sore legs recover with a slow morning at the lake or an easy walk on our own bluff trail before you head home. If you're not running, use the extra day to explore Foster Falls or Nickajack Cave & Lake.
Race weekend tips

- Race-day packet pickup is available at the start/finish area if you miss Friday pickup in Sewanee Village
