A magic theater right in our hometown
The Magic Box Theater sits at 212 South Cedar Avenue in downtown South Pittsburg, about 10 minutes down the mountain from the farm. It's a small room built just for magic: only 48 seats, so every seat feels like the front row. There's no big stage and no binoculars needed. You're close enough to watch the cards, the coins, and the puzzled look on your neighbor's face.
We've seen the show ourselves, and we loved it. It's the kind of local gem we wish every guest knew about, so we're putting it on our list of favorite things to do around here.
Meet Jerry White, “The Wonderful Wizard of Odd”
Jerry White has been performing magic professionally for more than 30 years. He calls himself “The Wonderful Wizard of Odd,” and he means it as a compliment. His shows mix comedy with magic, and the audience is part of the fun. Don't be surprised if someone in your group gets pulled in to help make the magic happen.
Locals may also know Jerry from Let's Make Litter Disappear!, the environmental program he has performed across the Southeast for three decades. He even brought it to The Magic Box Theater during the National Cornbread Festival.
When to go

Make it a South Pittsburg afternoon
A Saturday matinee fits perfectly into a day in town. Start with breakfast downtown, then browse the Lodge Cast Iron Factory Store & Museum, just a few blocks away. Catch the 2 PM show, then head back up the mountain for a paddle on the lake, a hike to one of our waterfalls, or a quiet evening by the fire. If you'd rather have a lazy morning on the farm, the 5 PM show gets you back before dark for s'mores.
